KARACHI - The Sindh government is taking significant strides towards creating an environment-friendly public transport system, as emphasized by Senior Minister for Transport, Mass Transit, and Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon. On the occasion of World Public Transport Day, Memon reiterated the provincial government's commitment to providing a comprehensive and eco-friendly transport network for the residents of Sindh.
In his message, Memon expressed pride in the various public transport projects initiated by the Sindh government, particularly highlighting the People’s Bus Service. He noted that thousands of citizens benefit daily from these initiatives, which offer affordable, comfortable, and convenient travel options. The introduction of the electric vehicle (EV) bus service stands out as a revolutionary step, aimed at reducing pollution and promoting a cleaner environment.
Moreover, Memon pointed out the unique 'pink bus service' designed specifically for women, which is a first-of-its-kind initiative globally. This service not only ensures safe travel for women but also reflects the government's dedication to inclusivity in public transport.
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance urban mobility, the Sindh government is currently working on the Orange Line and Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects. The completion of these lines is expected to further improve connectivity across various city areas, making travel more efficient for residents.
In an exciting development, the introduction of double-decker buses is also on the horizon, marking another first for the citizens of Sindh. Sharjeel Memon emphasized that achieving a bright and clean future requires the cooperation of all stakeholders, including the government and the public.
The Sindh government's commitment to developing an environment-friendly transport system is a commendable step towards sustainable urban living. As these projects unfold, they promise not only to enhance the quality of life for residents but also to contribute positively to the environment. It is essential for the community to engage with these initiatives, ensuring that the benefits of a modern and efficient public transport system are realized by all.
