Karachi prepares for IDEAS 2024 with significant traffic changes. Key roads closed; alternate routes advised for smooth travel.
As Karachi gears up for the much-anticipated IDEAS 2024 Defence Exhibition, which is set to commence on November 19, the city is bracing itself for significant traffic changes. This four-day event is expected to attract a large number of visitors, both local and international, making it crucial for the Karachi Traffic Police to implement a comprehensive traffic diversion plan. The primary goal of this plan is to ensure that the flow of vehicles remains smooth while minimizing inconvenience for daily commuters.
According to the traffic management strategy, several key roads surrounding the exhibition venue will be closed from morning until 7 PM each day. Notably, the roads leading from the National Stadium to Hasan Square will be completely off-limits to regular traffic. This means that anyone planning to travel in that direction should be prepared for detours. Additionally, vehicles coming from Shahrah-e-Faisal will not be permitted to access Karsaz Road, and heavy traffic will be restricted between Millennium Mall and Stadium Road. Commuters who typically use NIPA Chowrangi to reach Hasan Square will also encounter restrictions during this period.
For those driving heavy and commercial vehicles from Jail Chowrangi towards Hasan Square, a diversion will be in place directing them to Teen Hatti and Shaheed-e-Millat Road. Meanwhile, individuals traveling from Liaquatabad No. 10 to Hasan Square are advised to take NIPA Chowrangi to connect with Shahrah-e-Faisal. This traffic plan will remain in effect until November 22, with heavy vehicles allowed to travel only between Shahrah-e-Faisal and NIPA Chowrangi during this time.
Authorities are urging citizens to adhere to the alternate routes provided to avoid delays and to cooperate with traffic police for a hassle-free experience. This traffic management effort is not just about keeping the roads clear; it is part of a broader strategy to ensure that the international defence exhibition runs smoothly while minimizing disruption for everyday commuters.
As Karachiites prepare for IDEAS 2024, it is essential to plan journeys in advance and stay informed about real-time traffic updates. By doing so, residents can navigate the city more effectively during this busy period. Remember, a little planning goes a long way in ensuring that your travel experience remains pleasant, even amidst the hustle and bustle of a major event.
