A government committee, led by key officials, presents recommendations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reduce spending and enhance efficiency. Proposals include merging departments, introducing a pension system, involving the private sector, and optimizing expenditures.

A committee has been established by the government to address the issue of excessive spending. This committee, comprising key officials including the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission and various federal secretaries, has presented a series of recommendations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The aim is to reduce government expenses and improve efficiency in operations.

The recommendations put forward by the committee include the possibility of closing, merging, or transferring certain government departments to provinces. Another proposal is the introduction of a contributory pension system for new employees to ensure financial sustainability. Additionally, the committee suggests eliminating long-standing vacant positions within the government.

Furthermore, the committee advocates for involving the private sector in delivering services currently managed by government departments. It also proposes reducing unnecessary travel by government officials by encouraging the use of teleconferencing. The idea of withdrawing government vehicles from officials who choose the monetization scheme is also on the table.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assigned a high-powered committee the task of preparing a detailed report within 10 days. This report will focus on global best practices aimed at optimizing government expenditures. The Prime Minister is hopeful that the implementation of these recommendations will result in substantial savings for the national treasury.

The meeting where these decisions were made was attended by several federal cabinet members, the PM's Coordinator, and other senior officials. The government is taking proactive steps to ensure financial prudence and effective utilization of resources.
