The National Assembly Standing Committees recently elected new chairmen for key sectors, emphasizing parliamentary oversight and dedication to serving the nation.

The National Assembly Standing Committees on Information Technology and Telecommunication, Commerce, Privatization, and Industries and Production recently conducted their first meetings in Islamabad. These meetings were significant as they involved the election of chairmen for each committee.

The Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication unanimously chose Syed Amin ul Haq, MNA, as its Chairman. His nomination was put forward by MNA Syed Mustafa Kamal and received unanimous support from all committee members. Similarly, the Standing Committee on Commerce elected Muhammad Jawed Hanif Khan as its chairman, with his candidacy proposed by MNA Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig and backed by all committee members.

In separate sessions, the Standing Committees on Privatization and Industries and Production elected MNAs Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar and Syed Hafeezuddin as chairmen, respectively. Their nominations were made by MNAs Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani and Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani and were endorsed by all committee members.

Following the elections, the newly appointed chairmen received congratulations from the Advisor (Legislation) on behalf of the NA Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and the Secretary General. The chairmen expressed gratitude to their party leadership and colleagues for entrusting them with their roles and pledged to fulfill their parliamentary oversight responsibilities with the support of the Committee Members.

The successful election of chairmen for the National Assembly Standing Committees marks a crucial step in ensuring effective parliamentary oversight in key sectors.
