Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, recently expressed regret over missed opportunities for development during his tenure at a party meeting in Lahore. Sharif, who was ousted in 1993, stated that had his government not been overthrown, Pakistan could have been a leading country in Asia today.

During the meeting, Sharif acknowledged the challenges faced by his party members, including exile and legal battles, but praised their resilience. He highlighted the positive progress of individuals within his party who had overcome legal issues and were now actively participating in political roles.

Reflecting on past attempts at collaboration with Imran Khan, Sharif recalled initial efforts for national unity that were later disrupted by disagreements and protests. He criticized the process that led to his removal from office, questioning the severity of consequences over what he considered a minor issue.

Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif stepped down as the president of the PML-N, allowing Nawaz Sharif to be elected as the party head. Shehbaz emphasized his commitment to the party's principles and values, viewing his role as a trust bestowed upon him by Nawaz Sharif.

Shehbaz expressed confidence in Nawaz Sharif's leadership and vision, endorsing his return as the President of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) after recent developments. He thanked the party leadership for their support during challenging times.
