Pakistan Urges Afghanistan to Combat Terrorism for Regional Stability

In recent times, the relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been under scrutiny, particularly concerning the issue of terrorism. Pakistan has consistently urged Afghanistan to take strong action against various terror groups that are believed to be operating from its territory. During a weekly news briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch made it clear that Pakistan has provided Afghan authorities with substantial evidence regarding the presence and activities of these terror groups. She emphasized that terrorism poses a serious threat, not only to regional stability but also to Afghanistan’s own security. Baloch expressed hope that the Afghan government would take its obligations seriously, particularly under international agreements like the Doha Agreement. In addition to addressing the issue of terrorism, Baloch also expressed regret over the United Nations Security Council's inability to reach a consensus on a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. She reiterated Pakistan’s demand for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, as well as unrestricted access to humanitarian assistance. This reflects Pakistan's broader commitment to humanitarian issues and its support for the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in its efforts to provide aid.

Furthermore, Baloch highlighted the dire situation of children in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, urging the international community to advocate for their rights and alleviate their suffering. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering political, moral, and diplomatic support for Kashmiris in their quest for a just resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with UN Security Council Resolutions.

It is important to note that the United States has also condemned the recent surge of terrorist attacks in Pakistan. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller expressed concern over the impact of these attacks on the Pakistani people, reminding everyone that the Taliban had previously committed to preventing Afghan soil from being used by terrorists.
