Melbourne Renegades sign BBL-winning batter Josh Brown from Brisbane Heat, adding depth and firepower to their lineup for the upcoming season.

Melbourne Renegades have made a significant move by signing BBL-winning batter Josh Brown from Brisbane Heat on a two-year deal. The 30-year-old, who emerged as a standout player for Heat in the last two seasons, will be filling the void left by the retired Aaron Finch.

Josh Brown's impressive performances in the BBL, where he scored 624 runs at an average of 27.13 and a striking rate of 149.64 in his first 23 matches, caught the attention of Renegades. His standout moment came in the BBL finals last season when he smashed 140 runs off 71 balls, including a record 12 sixes, against Adelaide Strikers in the Challenger match.

Renegades' general manager, James Rosengarten, expressed his excitement about having Brown on board, highlighting his aggressive yet composed batting style. Brown's signing is part of Renegades' strategy to revamp their squad for the upcoming season.

Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, expressed disappointment at losing Brown despite offering a competitive two-year contract. The Queensland Cricket general manager, Joe Dawes, acknowledged Brown's decision to opt for a longer commitment with Renegades and wished him well for the future.

Josh Brown, grateful for his time with Heat, is looking forward to the new challenge with Renegades. He aims to replicate his success with his new team and is eager to form a strong partnership with players like Jake Fraser-McGurk and Will Sutherland.

The addition of Josh Brown adds depth and firepower to the Renegades' batting lineup, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
