Every Sunday, workers hailing from countries like Sri Lanka, the Philippines, India, and Pakistan gather in a car park in Beirut's Ashrafieh neighborhood to participate in a cricket tournament, offering a brief escape from the harsh realities of their daily lives in crisis-ridden Lebanon.

These migrant workers, employed under Lebanon's controversial 'kafala' sponsorship system, face numerous difficulties and abuses in their workplaces. However, on the cricket field, they come together to enjoy the sport, share traditional food, and engage in friendly competition, creating a festive and supportive atmosphere.

One of the participants, Iris Sagario from the Philippines, shares her enthusiasm for cricket, cherishing the opportunity to play on her only day off. For these workers, the tournament not only provides a recreational outlet but also fosters bonds of friendship and solidarity among individuals navigating life in a foreign country.

Organizer Fernando Sugath, a migrant worker himself, advocates for employers to grant workers time off for activities like cricket matches, recognizing the importance of allowing workers some freedom and connection to their cultural roots. Through these matches, individuals from diverse backgrounds unite in the spirit of sportsmanship and resilience, turning the car park into a symbol of unity affectionately known as 'Lord's of Lebanon.'
