Mohammad Huraira leads Pakistan Shaheens against Sri Lanka ‘A’ in a series of matches at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 11 to 29.

In an exciting development for cricket fans in Pakistan, Mohammad Huraira has been appointed as the captain of the Pakistan Shaheens for their upcoming series against Sri Lanka ‘A’. This series will feature two four-day matches and three 50-over matches, taking place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 11 to November 29. The selection of Huraira, a promising 22-year-old cricketer, reflects the confidence the selectors have in his abilities to lead the team.

Mohammad Huraira has made a significant mark in domestic cricket, having scored 3,310 runs in 40 first-class matches. His impressive record includes eight centuries and 14 half-centuries, showcasing his talent and consistency as a batsman. In addition, he has accumulated 632 runs in 25 List-A matches, which includes a century and a half-century. These statistics highlight his potential to perform at higher levels, making him a suitable choice for captaincy.

The Men’s National Selection Committee has also announced the squads for the series, which include notable Test fast bowlers Mohammad Wasim Jnr and Khurram Shahzad. Both players recently returned to competitive cricket after completing their rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, participating in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. In the white-ball squad, Hussain Talat stands out as the other international player, while newcomers Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Ahmed Safi Abdullah have earned their first call-ups to the Shaheens. The squad also retains several players who participated in the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup last month, including Abdul Samad, Haider Ali, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Imran Jnr, and Rohail Nazir. Additionally, Muhammad Imran, Sirajuddin, and Ubaid Shah are set to make their debut in the Shaheens side.

As the series approaches, the red-ball squad will begin training sessions on November 6, while Sri Lanka ‘A’ is expected to arrive on November 8 to start their preparations on November 9. The white-ball players will gather in Islamabad on November 22, ensuring that the teams are well-prepared for the matches ahead.

Moreover, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed the match officials for the series. Iqbal Sheikh and Bilal Khilji will lead the Playing Control Team (PCT) for the red and white-ball matches, respectively. Umpiring duties will be shared among Asif Yaqoob, Imran Jawed, Rashid Riaz, and Zulfiqar Jan, ensuring that the matches are officiated with the utmost professionalism.
