Phil Simmons joins PNG as specialist coach for T20 World Cup

Phil Simmons, a renowned former West Indies all-rounder and coach, has taken on the role of 'specialist coach' for Papua New Guinea (PNG) as they gear up for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament, commencing on June 1, will see Simmons lending his expertise to assist PNG head coach Tatenda Taibu in navigating the unique challenges of Caribbean conditions.

Simmons, who played a pivotal role in West Indies' T20 World Cup triumph in 2016, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to contribute to PNG's campaign. He stressed the importance of devising venue-specific strategies to help the players adapt effectively.
