The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Sami-ul-Hasan Burney as the new Director of Media and Communications. Burney takes over the role following the resignation of Aalia Rasheed from the position. Rasheed, a well-known sports journalist, stepped down recently, leading to Burney's appointment.

Sami-ul-Hasan Burney is not new to this position, having previously served as the Director of Media at PCB. He had temporarily left the role when Zaka Ashraf assumed leadership of the board last year. The PCB confirmed Burney's appointment through a brief statement released on their official platform.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan national cricket team is currently engaged in a rigorous physical fitness camp, conducted in collaboration with the Pakistan Army. The camp aims to prepare the players for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The Kiwi team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on April 14 for the crucial series, which serves as preparation for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20I World Cup.

The initial three T20Is between Pakistan and New Zealand will be held at Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium on April 18, 20, and 21. Subsequently, the teams will move to Lahore for the final two T20Is on April 25 and 27.

Notable players participating in the fitness camp at Kakul include Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Amir, among others. The camp is crucial in enhancing the players' physical conditioning and readiness for the upcoming series.

In conclusion, Sami-ul-Hasan Burney's appointment as the Director of Media and Communications at PCB comes at a significant juncture for Pakistan cricket, as the team gears up for the challenging T20I series against New Zealand and the impending World Cup. The board's decision reflects its commitment to effective communication and media management within the cricketing fraternity.
