More than 400 Pakistani students have successfully finished a vocational training program at the Huaneng Pakistan Vocational & Technical College in Sahiwal, Punjab. This initiative is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, aimed at enhancing job-oriented skills among the youth.

The training program, conducted by Huaneng Shandong Ruyi (Pakistan) Energy (Private) Limited (HSRE), focused on computer applications, electrical technician skills, and welding. The one-month program provided hands-on professional training free of charge, particularly benefiting underprivileged individuals in society.

Gao Guangxin, Director of the Operation Department at HSRE, highlighted the significance of training local youth for effective localisation management, emphasizing the importance of skill development for the community.

Established in August 2019, the Huaneng Pakistan Vocational & Technical College is registered with the Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority of Pakistan. Offering courses in computer applications, secretarial work, electrician skills, and welding, the college combines theoretical teaching with practical experience to enhance participants' employability.

Furthermore, two Pakistani engineers, Fahad Ahmed and Sohail Abbas from the Sahiwal Power Plant, achieved success in the "Huaneng Craftsman Cup 2024" event in China. This accomplishment not only showcased the technical expertise of Pakistani professionals but also strengthened the cooperation between China and Pakistan.

The collaboration between the two countries has significantly improved local employment opportunities at the Sahiwal Power Plant, with Pakistani employees now holding key managerial and production roles. Notably, all positions in centralised and auxiliary control operations are currently filled by Pakistani staff, demonstrating the success of the partnership.

The completion of the vocational training program by Pakistani students at the Huaneng Pakistan Vocational & Technical College marks a milestone in skill development and employment opportunities in the region. Through initiatives like these, the cooperation between China and Pakistan continues to benefit local communities and strengthen bilateral ties, paving the way for a brighter future for the youth of both nations.
