Kerala leads the way by integrating AI and ICT education in schools, equipping students with essential skills for the future. The curriculum emphasizes practical activities, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Kerala has taken a significant step by incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the school curriculum, making it mandatory for over four lakh Class Seven students. This move is a pioneering effort in the country, ensuring that all students receive uniform education in AI.

The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) will supply the necessary software for AI learning on school laptops. Students will have the opportunity to create their AI program, focusing on recognizing seven different human facial expressions under the 'Computer Vision' chapter.

In addition to Class Seven, the upcoming academic year will see the introduction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) textbooks for Classes One, Three, and Five. The curriculum aims to enhance critical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities essential for overall development.

The ICT textbooks for primary levels emphasize logical thinking and programming skills. Students will practice programming, AI, and robotics using tools like 'PictoBlox' and 'Scratch' software.

Moreover, the ICT textbooks for Classes One and Three will include Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) based educational applications like GCompris, eduActiv8, OmniTux, and TuxPaint, covering various subjects from drawing to numeracy.

Furthermore, KITE has developed interactive applications such as Traffic Signal and Waste Challenges to educate students on traffic regulations and waste management through gaming. The new textbooks also incorporate language labs to improve language learning.

The Chairman of the ICT Textbook Committee and CEO of KITE, K. Anvar Sadath, emphasized that the new ICT textbooks offer practical activities to develop life skills, support other subjects' learning, and provide guidance on cyber safety and identifying fake news. KITE has initiated AI training for 80,000 secondary school teachers, with 20,120 teachers already completing the training.

Kerala's initiative to introduce AI and enhance ICT education in schools is a commendable effort towards preparing students for the future. By integrating technology into the curriculum, students are equipped with essential skills that will benefit them in various aspects of their academic and personal growth.
