The Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies (CASS) seminar in Lahore delved into the evolving landscape of air warfare, emphasizing the importance of advanced technologies like AI and cyber warfare for modernizing the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). Discussions highlighted the need for collaboration, innovation, and strategic investments to ensure national defense preparedness in the face of emerging threats.

The Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies (CASS) in Lahore recently hosted a seminar titled 'Next-Generation Air Warfare: Transforming South Asian Air Forces' on 27 June 2024. The seminar delved into the evolving landscape of air warfare, shedding light on the impact of advancing technologies on military strategies.

The event commenced with Ms Nidaa Shahid, a Senior Researcher at CASS, setting the stage with her opening remarks. Air Commodore Khalid Banuri (Retd) emphasized the significance of harnessing technologies like AI for the modernization of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) through collaborative efforts across various sectors.

Dr Ghulam Mujaddid from the National Defence University discussed the role of advanced weapon systems in air warfare, citing examples from recent conflicts. He highlighted the strategic importance of cyber warfare in empowering smaller air forces against larger adversaries.

Dr Adil Sultan, Dean of FASS at Air University, stressed the importance of continuous adaptation for achieving air dominance in the future. He emphasized the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as advanced aircraft, drones, AI, and the value of investing in dual-use technology for cost optimization.

In his closing remarks, Air Marshal Asim Suleiman (Retd), President of CASS, Lahore, underscored the critical role of emerging technologies like AI, big data analytics, and autonomous systems in national defense. He emphasized the need for proactive innovation within the PAF to maintain a strategic edge, especially in response to advancements by the IAF.

The seminar highlighted the imperative of equipping the PAF with the necessary tools to navigate future battlefields and safeguard the nation's security interests.
