FHS World 2024 in Dubai will unite industry leaders to discuss sustainable practices and technology in hospitality.

The Future Hospitality Summit World (FHS World) is set to take place in Dubai from September 30 to October 2, 2024, at the stunning Madinat Jumeirah. This event promises to be a significant gathering for the hospitality and tourism sectors, bringing together over 1,500 industry leaders and featuring more than 110 distinguished speakers. The summit aims to provide valuable insights, networking opportunities, and discussions that will shape the future of the industry.

Jonathan Worsley, the chairman of The Bench and the organizer of FHS World, highlighted the growth of this summit, stating, "The Future Hospitality Summit has grown year on year since its inception, evolving from what was once a purely Middle East-focused event to a world-leading summit that attracts over 1,500 international delegates." This year’s theme, "Invest in Our Future," will focus on critical issues such as innovation, sustainability, technology, and investment opportunities that are essential for the hospitality landscape.

The agenda for FHS World 2024 is packed with over 40 sessions across 20 conference tracks, covering a wide range of topics. These include environmental, social, and governance issues, sustainable development, human capital, technology, branding, and culture. Worsley emphasized the growing importance of sustainability, noting that the summit will feature dedicated tracks aimed at developing sustainable business models that prioritize environmental stewardship while enhancing profitability.

One of the key discussions will revolve around the urgent need for the hospitality industry to adopt sustainable practices. Hala Matar Choufany, president for HVS Middle East, Africa & South Asia, pointed out that "Sustainability compliance is one of the biggest challenges facing the hospitality industry, as governments and investors push for more stringent environmental standards." This highlights the pressing need for hotels and businesses to adapt to these changes to remain competitive.

Technology will also play a significant role at the summit. Worsley noted that advancements such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and automation are transforming the industry. These technologies enhance operational efficiency and improve guest experiences. For instance, AI can help hotel operators predict occupancy rates and optimize staffing, while dynamic pricing algorithms can maximize revenue.

Moreover, the summit will address the ethical considerations surrounding these technologies. Worsley mentioned that discussions on ethics and data protection are essential as the industry embraces new tools like robotics and generative AI. This balanced approach ensures that while the industry innovates, it also remains responsible and ethical.

Another exciting feature of FHS World 2024 will be the Branded Residences Forum, which focuses on the growing trend of branded residences in the Middle East. Worsley explained that investors are increasingly interested in diversified assets that can withstand market fluctuations, driving the popularity of branded residences and mixed-use developments.

As remote work and digital nomadism become more prevalent, the hospitality industry is witnessing a rise in extended stay and co-living spaces. Choufany noted that these properties blend the comforts of home with hotel-like amenities, making them attractive to modern travelers.

In addition to insightful discussions, the summit will feature Country Pavilions exhibitions showcasing hospitality projects from various countries, including Greece, Italy, Morocco, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. This platform allows countries to present their hospitality projects and investment opportunities to a global audience, helping investors identify new markets.

FHS World 2024 is not just an event; it is a vital platform for the hospitality industry to come together, share knowledge, and explore innovative solutions for a sustainable future. As the industry faces numerous challenges, the insights and discussions at this summit will be crucial in shaping the path forward. Attendees can expect to leave with a wealth of knowledge and new connections that will help them navigate the evolving landscape of hospitality.
