Russia's Gazprom strengthens its position as China's main gas supplier with the completion of Power of Siberia and Far Eastern gas pipelines, focusing on meeting growing demand and diversifying export destinations.

Russia is on track to solidify its position as China's main gas supplier with the upcoming completion of the Power of Siberia and Far Eastern gas pipelines. Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller has revealed that by 2027, the Far Eastern route will be operational, capable of delivering 10 billion cubic meters of gas annually. Once both pipelines are fully operational, Russia is poised to surpass all other gas suppliers to China.

Miller highlighted China's growing demand for natural gas, showcasing the consistent increase in Gazprom's gas supplies through the Power of Siberia line. The pipeline is expected to reach its maximum export capacity of 38 billion cubic meters per year by next year, with Gazprom achieving record-breaking daily gas exports to China.

Moreover, Russia is focusing on enhancing its natural gas transportation infrastructure to ensure reliable and long-term gas supplies to Central Asian markets. Gazprom's recent initiation of gas deliveries to Uzbekistan via the Central Asia-Central line underscores the company's dedication to meeting the region's escalating energy requirements.

Despite experiencing its first loss in over two decades in 2020, Gazprom is actively exploring new export opportunities to counter the decline in the European market. The company's strategic priority remains diversifying its export destinations and reinforcing its position as a key player in the global gas market.

With the completion of the Power of Siberia and Far Eastern gas pipelines, Russia is poised to strengthen its energy ties with China and other Central Asian markets. Gazprom's commitment to meeting the increasing demand for natural gas underscores its pivotal role in the global energy landscape. As Russia expands its gas export capabilities, it is set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of energy supply dynamics in the region and beyond.
