Iran's Revolutionary Guards escalate tensions with extensive drone attacks on Israel, prompting retaliatory responses and heightened anxiety in the region.

Iran has launched a series of drone attacks on Israel, escalating tensions in the region. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the attacks, which they described as 'extensive drone strikes' carried out by Iran's Revolutionary Guards. More than 100 drones were reportedly launched towards Israel, along with missile strikes on specific targets as part of 'Operation True Promise'.

The Iranian consulate in Damascus was targeted earlier this month, leading to a retaliatory response from Iran against Israel. The Iranian mission to the UN stated that these attacks were in direct response to the consulate strike, which resulted in the deaths of several Iranian commanders.

In a warning issued by Iran's Defence Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, any country facilitating attacks on Iran by Israel would face firm retaliation. This warning came after Yemen's Iran-backed Huthi rebels also launched drones at Israel in coordination with Iran, according to security firm Ambrey.

Israel's army spokesman confirmed the drone launches from Iran towards Israeli territory, with the drones flying over Iraqi airspace en route to Israel. Sirens were sounded in threatened areas, and the Israeli military prepared to counter the incoming drones, identified as 'explosive'.

The situation has caused heightened anxiety among the Israeli population, as warnings of potential attacks are issued hours in advance, contrasting with the usual 20-second window for seeking shelter during missile strikes.
