Jordanian medical teams arrive in northern Gaza, providing essential care and support amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza has drawn international attention, prompting various nations to extend their support. Among these, Jordan has taken significant steps to assist the residents of this war-torn region. Recently, a new team of medical professionals from Jordan arrived in northern Gaza, ready to provide essential medical care and humanitarian aid to those in need.
On Wednesday, the Jordanian field hospital's medical teams reached northern Gaza, bringing with them vital supplies and equipment. This mission is part of Jordan's commitment to help the people affected by the ongoing conflict. The teams were accompanied by several trucks loaded with humanitarian, medical, and treatment supplies, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Upon their arrival, the medical teams wasted no time in preparing to receive patients. They immediately began taking necessary measures to ensure they could perform their duties with "competence and efficiency." This proactive approach is crucial, as the need for medical assistance in the region is dire. The previous medical team had successfully treated around 24,067 patients, highlighting the importance of these efforts.
Jordan operates two military field hospitals in Gaza. The first was established in the northern part of the strip in 2009, following the Hamas-Israel war in 2008. The second hospital was set up in Khan Younis in the south in November 2023, coinciding with the peak of the recent Israeli aggression that began on October 7. These facilities are vital lifelines for the local population, providing much-needed medical care amidst the chaos.
In addition to the hospitals in Gaza, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army has also established a field hospital in Nablus, which has conducted over 900 surgeries and treated more than 83,000 patients since its inception in late November 2023. Furthermore, Jordan has set up two health centers in Ramallah and Jenin, serving tens of thousands of patients in the West Bank. This extensive network of medical facilities underscores Jordan's commitment to supporting the health needs of Palestinians during these challenging times.
As the situation in Gaza continues to evolve, the arrival of the new medical teams from Jordan represents a beacon of hope for many. Their dedication to providing care and support is commendable and reflects the broader humanitarian spirit that transcends borders. It is essential for the international community to recognize and support such initiatives, as they play a crucial role in alleviating the suffering of those affected by conflict. In times of crisis, every effort counts, and the actions taken today can pave the way for a healthier and more stable tomorrow.
