Saudi Arabia's KSGAAL conducts a standardized Arabic test for 315 non-native speakers from 22 countries, promoting Arabic language education globally.
In a significant move to promote the Arabic language, Saudi Arabia has recently conducted a standardized Arabic language test for non-native speakers. This initiative, spearheaded by the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL), aims to assess the Arabic language skills of individuals from various countries. The Hamza Arabic Language Test, which took place this week, saw participation from 315 candidates hailing from 22 different nations.
The test is a computerized and codified assessment designed to measure the proficiency of non-native speakers in Arabic. It was first introduced in December 2023 and aligns with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, ensuring that it meets international standards. Since its inception, a total of seven tests have been administered, evaluating the language skills of nearly 2,000 individuals across countries such as Saudi Arabia, China, Indonesia, and India.
Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, the secretary-general of KSGAAL, emphasized the importance of this test in raising the status of the Arabic language on local, regional, and international platforms. He stated that the increasing demand for Arabic language education, driven by various educational, vocational, and cultural needs, necessitated the creation of a unified global test. This test not only aids in enrolling candidates in educational programs but also addresses the requirements of the labor market.
Dr. Saad Al-Qahtani, who heads the Educational Programs Sector at KSGAAL, highlighted that mastering language skills is crucial for employment opportunities. He expressed the academy's commitment to enhancing collaboration with organizations focused on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. The Hamza academic test is crafted to meet the highest global standards, aiming to improve teaching practices and consolidate efforts in Arabic language education.
The participating universities in this initiative include prominent institutions such as Umm Al-Qura University, Islamic University of Madinah, King Abdulaziz University, King Faisal University, Taif University, Qassim University, and Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University. This collaboration underscores the collective effort to promote Arabic language proficiency among non-native speakers.
As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, the ability to communicate in multiple languages, especially Arabic, is becoming more valuable. This test not only serves as a benchmark for language proficiency but also opens doors for individuals seeking educational and professional opportunities in Arabic-speaking regions. The Hamza Arabic Language Test is a step forward in fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Arabic language, paving the way for a more inclusive global community.
