Woman Assists Police After Toddler Found on HDB Ledge in Singapore

SINGAPORE: A concerning incident unfolded on Sunday, October 20, when a 3-year-old boy was spotted precariously standing on the window ledge of a Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat in Sembawang. This alarming situation has prompted a 25-year-old woman to assist the police with their investigations into potential negligence.

According to reports, the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call for help around 11:50 AM. The boy was seen on the ledge of Block 350C Canberra Road, and fortunately, a brave member of the public intervened before the authorities arrived. In a video that has since circulated online, the child can be seen teetering on the ledge of the third storey, while concerned onlookers gathered below.

As the situation unfolded, a man cautiously made his way along the ledge to reach the boy. Onlookers held out a blanket, hoping to catch the child should he fall. Thankfully, the man was able to lift the boy back into the flat through an open window, ensuring his safety. A Facebook user, Nela M Hock, who shared the video, noted that attempts were made to knock on the door of the boy's home, but there was no response. It was later revealed that an adult was present in the room when the child was rescued.

As a precaution, the SCDF took the child to KK Women's and Children's Hospital for evaluation. The police have stated that the woman is currently assisting with the investigation into this negligent act.
