The Gawala Union has announced a significant increase in dairy product prices, impacting families in Rawalpindi amid rising economic challenges.
In a recent development that has raised concerns among consumers, the Gawala Union has announced a significant increase in the prices of essential dairy products, including milk, yogurt, and butter. This price hike, effective from Friday, has added another financial burden on families in the Rawalpindi district, where many rely on these products for their daily nutrition.
Starting this week, the price of open milk has surged to Rs220 per litre, up from the previous price of Rs200. Similarly, yogurt has seen an increase from Rs220 to Rs240 per kilogram. Butter, a staple in many households, has also experienced a price jump from Rs1,000 to Rs1,200 per kilogram. These changes come despite the official prices set at Rs190 for milk and Rs200 for yogurt, indicating a growing gap between market prices and government regulations.
Khawar Chaudhary, the Secretary of the Gawala Union, explained that the rise in prices is largely due to the skyrocketing costs of buffalo fodder. He stated that the prices of all components of buffalo fodder have increased by an alarming 500 to 700%. Additionally, the cost of a buffalo has now reached up to Rs0.8 million, further complicating the situation for dairy farmers. With fodder prices soaring, it has become increasingly difficult for sellers to maintain the old prices for milk and other dairy products.
This price increase is particularly concerning for families who are already facing economic challenges. Dairy products are a crucial part of the diet for many, and rising prices can lead to reduced consumption of these essential items. As the cost of living continues to rise, consumers are left to wonder how they will manage their budgets while still providing nutritious food for their families.
The recent price hike by the Gawala Union highlights the ongoing challenges faced by both consumers and dairy farmers in Pakistan. With the cost of essential goods on the rise, it is imperative for authorities to address these issues and find solutions that can help stabilize prices and support families in need. Consumers are encouraged to stay informed about market trends and consider alternative sources for their dairy needs to mitigate the impact of these increases.
