Jordan Chamber of Commerce and Egyptian Businesses Strengthen Trade Ties

Members of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and representatives of Egyptian businesses recently met in Amman to discuss ways to enhance investment cooperation between their countries. The focus was on addressing barriers to trade and exploring opportunities for mutual growth.

The delegation of 23 Egyptian companies visited Jordanian firms to explore the potential for Egyptian products to enter Middle Eastern markets through Jordan and for Jordanian goods to reach African markets via Egypt.

One key highlight was the recognition by Egyptian company representatives of Jordan's importance as a gateway to other Arab markets. Ibrahim Al-Nawaiseh, a member of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, expressed optimism about establishing partnerships between businesses from both nations, particularly in the construction and building materials sector.

Al-Nawaiseh emphasized the quality and competitiveness of Jordanian products in the building materials sector, suggesting opportunities for meeting Egyptian market demands. He also advocated for increased collaboration and knowledge exchange to enhance product quality in both countries.

Khaled Abul Makarem, chairperson of Egypt’s Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council, viewed the visit as a significant step towards strengthening trade ties. He highlighted potential cooperation in sectors like chemicals, building materials, fertilizers, and more, emphasizing the strategic importance of partnerships involving Egypt, Jordan, and other countries in the region.

The discussions between Jordan and Egypt signal a positive direction for enhancing economic cooperation and trade relations.
