Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja advocates for Swedish investment in Pakistan's IT & Telecom sector, emphasizing the importance of policy measures and skilled professionals for technological advancements.

Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, recently highlighted the significance of Swedish companies investing in Pakistan's Information Technology and Telecom sector. This emphasis was made during a Roundtable on IT and Digitalization, where the government's efforts to promote Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for the country's progress were discussed.

Minister Shaza Fatima outlined the various initiatives by the Ministry of IT & Telecom to realize the Digital Pakistan vision. These initiatives include the development of laws, policies, and regulations to create a robust digital landscape, with a particular focus on providing affordable and quality ICT services to the public through the Digital Pakistan Policy.

Encouraging Swedish tech companies to consider investing in Pakistan's IT & Telecom sector, Minister Shaza Fatima highlighted the conducive investment environment in the country. The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) was also mentioned as a key facilitator for investments in Pakistan.

The Swedish delegation engaged in discussions with Pakistani officials on a range of topics including digitalization, connectivity, IT & Telecom infrastructure, IT exports, startups, e-governance, e-rozgar, gaming and animation, and skills development. The Swedish representatives stressed the importance of Pakistan expediting policy measures in the IT sector and focusing on producing skilled IT professionals. They also expressed readiness to provide training to Pakistanis in the field of IT.

Ambassador of Sweden, Henrik Persson, highlighted the strong relations between Sweden and Pakistan and expressed Sweden's interest in enhancing cooperation in the IT and Telecommunication sector. The event was attended by officials from both countries, showcasing the commitment to fostering collaboration in the field of technology.

The Roundtable on IT and Digitalization between Pakistan and Sweden signifies a step towards strengthening bilateral ties and fostering technological advancements. With a focus on promoting investments, enhancing digital infrastructure, and developing skilled professionals, the collaboration between the two countries holds promise for the future of IT and Telecom sectors in Pakistan.
