IPO Initiatives Promote Innovation in Pakistan

The annual World Intellectual Property Day, celebrated on April 26, 2024, will spotlight the theme 'IP and SDGs: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity.' The Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) highlighted the critical role of intellectual property in driving innovation and creativity towards sustainable development goals.

Chairman Farukh Amil stressed that intellectual property is essential for addressing global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. He emphasized the need for a robust IP framework to foster advancements in renewable energy, healthcare, education, and technology.

Director General Shazia Adnan elaborated on how intellectual property rights can encourage innovators to create solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She emphasized the importance of protecting creators' rights to nurture an environment conducive to idea generation and technological progress.

The IPO announced various initiatives to promote innovation in Pakistan, including educational programs to raise awareness about intellectual property and collaborations with businesses and research institutions to develop technologies supporting the SDGs.
