The Government of Pakistan, led by Jam Kamal, is committed to transforming the country into a top business destination through strategic initiatives.

The Government of Pakistan is on a mission to transform the country into a premier destination for business and investment. This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing the Ease of Doing Business in Pakistan, making it more appealing to foreign investors. One of the key projects in this endeavor is the Pakistan Single Window, which aims to streamline the process for potential investors by providing a single point of contact for various permits, rather than requiring them to navigate through multiple government departments.

During the 40th anniversary celebration of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan emphasized the government's commitment to creating a supportive environment for businesses. He stated, "Prudent and effective policies of the Government have brought down inflation," highlighting the positive impact of stable foreign reserves on interest rates. Furthermore, the government is actively working to reduce power tariffs, particularly for industries and exporters, to foster a more conducive business climate.

Minister Kamal also noted that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is personally overseeing efforts to address the challenges faced by the business community. A high-profile board is already in place, working under the Prime Minister's leadership to tackle these issues. The government is making concerted efforts to promote regional trade and explore new business opportunities for exporters. A revised transshipment policy is in the works, which is expected to enhance cross-border trade and position Pakistan as a regional business hub for Central Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East.

This strategic move is anticipated to create job opportunities for the skilled labor force, attract foreign exchange, boost government revenues, and contribute to overall national development. The role of chambers of commerce, such as the ICCI, in promoting both domestic and international trade is crucial. Over the past four decades, the Islamabad Chamber has significantly contributed to economic progress by encouraging entrepreneurship and business activity.

Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, the President of ICCI, highlighted the major milestones achieved during his tenure, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in overcoming challenges faced by the business community. He stated, "We have to increase our exports, impart skill training to our youth, and formulate long-term economic policies for the wellbeing of the country." His leadership has been instrumental in establishing the ICCI as a premier chamber in the country.

Former ICCI President Zafar Bakhtawari called for the recognition of business leaders' achievements through government-level excellence awards, urging the youth to aspire to become job providers rather than job seekers. Zubair Ahmad Malik, another former president, stressed the need for the government to provide necessary facilities to the business community and called for immediate action on critical projects like the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline and CASA-1000.

Looking ahead, President-elect Nasir Mansoor Qureshi expressed optimism about Pakistan's abundant opportunities and resources, emphasizing the need to effectively showcase them to tackle economic challenges. Senior Vice President Faad Waheed underscored the importance of continuity in economic policies to ensure sustained growth.

The government's commitment to enhancing the business environment in Pakistan is a positive step towards economic stability and growth. By fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and supporting the business community, Pakistan can unlock its full potential and emerge as a key player in the regional and global economy. The collaborative efforts of government officials, business leaders, and chambers of commerce will be vital in achieving these ambitious goals, ultimately benefiting the nation as a whole.
