Costa Rica's successful participation in the Seoul Food & Hotel trade show highlights its premium food offerings and strengthens its position as a reliable global supplier.

Costa Rica recently participated in the Seoul Food & Hotel trade show in South Korea, where it presented a diverse range of high-quality products to international buyers. The country's delegation, led by the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of Costa Rica (PROCOMER), featured prominent companies like Café San Vito, Todo Natural, and Compañía Frutera La Paz.

The primary goal of Costa Rica's presence at the trade show was to highlight itself as a trusted source of premium food items, enhance trade relations with South Korea, and explore new export opportunities in emerging markets. This event served as a valuable platform for Costa Rican businesses to engage with key players in the Korean food industry, gain market insights, and foster new partnerships.

Among the standout products showcased by Costa Rica were its renowned Arabica coffee, celebrated for its exceptional quality and distinct flavor profile, and the popular MD2 pineapple, known for its sweetness and consistent availability throughout the year. By participating in the trade show, Costa Rica aimed to raise awareness about these signature products in crucial international markets, particularly in Asia.

Costa Rican companies at the event actively interacted with importers, distributors, and supermarket chains from South Korea and other Asian nations. They also conducted on-site visits in Seoul to better understand consumer preferences and market dynamics. South Korea currently ranks as Costa Rica's fourth largest trading partner in Asia, with trade volumes exceeding $363 million in the early months of 2024.

Costa Rica's successful participation in the Seoul Food & Hotel trade show not only showcased the country's premium food offerings but also strengthened its position as a reliable supplier in the global market. By actively engaging with industry stakeholders and exploring new business opportunities, Costa Rican companies are poised to expand their presence in key international markets, driving economic growth and promoting the country's rich culinary heritage on a global scale.
