A consortium empowers rural women through the Agripreneur project, providing training in sustainable farming practices, vegetable drying, and sales strategies for economic empowerment.

Over the past four years, a consortium consisting of a prominent foreign bank, a foreign trust, and two local organizations has been dedicated to empowering women in rural areas. Through their initiative called Agripreneur, approximately 1,000 women have received training aimed at helping them generate income and become self-sufficient.

The Agripreneur project focuses on equipping women with the necessary skills to earn a livelihood by leveraging agricultural practices. One of the key aspects of the programme is educating women on the use of solar machines to dry vegetables. By employing this method, the women are able to extend the shelf life of their products without resorting to preservatives or other harmful chemicals.

In addition to learning about sustainable farming practices, the participants are also taught how to package their dried vegetables in an attractive manner. This not only enhances the marketability of their products but also enables them to command better prices for their goods.

Furthermore, the women are trained on effective sales strategies, enabling them to successfully market their products in local markets. By providing these women with the necessary knowledge and skills, the Agripreneur project is not only empowering them economically but also fostering entrepreneurship within the community.

The Agripreneur project stands as a testament to the positive impact that targeted training and support can have on empowering women in rural areas. By equipping these women with the tools they need to succeed in the agricultural sector, the consortium has not only improved their livelihoods but has also contributed to the overall economic development of the community.
