Army Chief Vows to Dismantle Terror Networks and Ensure National Security

In recent times, Pakistan has faced a troubling rise in terrorist activities, particularly targeting security forces and law enforcement agencies. The escalation of violence can be traced back to the breakdown of a fragile ceasefire agreement with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in 2022, which has since vowed to target security forces. In response to this deteriorating situation, Gen Munir visited Peshawar to assess the security landscape and the progress of counter-terrorism operations. During his visit, he was briefed on the current security challenges and the operational readiness of the troops.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Gen Munir emphasized the army's unwavering resolve to combat terrorism and highlighted the sacrifices made by security personnel as the "cornerstone of national resilience." He commended the high morale and commitment of the troops, assuring that the Pakistan Army, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, would relentlessly pursue those who threaten peace and stability.

The recent meeting of the National Action Plan apex committee underscored the urgency of addressing militancy and separatist movements, particularly in Balochistan. The committee has pledged to revitalize the National Counter-Terrorism Authority to effectively tackle the resurgence of terrorism.
