CCPO Lahore reviews police performance, enhancing accountability and transparency within the force.
In a significant move to enhance accountability within the Lahore Police, the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) convened an Orderly Room on Friday to assess the performance of officers and staff from various wings. This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster a culture of transparency and meritocracy within the police force, which has often been criticized for its outdated practices.
During this year alone, the CCPO has conducted 13 Orderly Rooms, where a total of 2,115 appeals from police employees were heard. This process is crucial as it allows officers to voice their concerns and seek redress for grievances. Out of these appeals, warnings were issued for 1,957 cases involving minor infractions, while 64 appeals were outright rejected. This indicates a proactive approach by the CCPO to address issues while also maintaining discipline within the ranks.
The CCPO emphasized that the primary goal of hearing these appeals is to eradicate the archaic culture of favoritism that has plagued the police department for years. By implementing a robust self-accountability mechanism, the CCPO aims to ensure that all actions taken within the department are based on merit rather than personal connections or biases.
This initiative not only serves to improve the internal workings of the police force but also aims to restore public trust in law enforcement. When police officers are held accountable for their actions, it sends a strong message to the community that the department is committed to upholding justice and fairness.
The CCPO's efforts to review the performance of police officers through the Orderly Room process is a commendable step towards building a more accountable and transparent police force. As the Lahore Police continues to evolve, it is essential for all stakeholders to support these initiatives, ensuring that the principles of justice and equality are upheld. Only then can the police truly serve as a pillar of safety and security for the community they protect.
