DPO Asad Sarfraz Khan organizes open courts in Bahawalpur to enhance community relations and ensure accessible justice for citizens.
In a significant move to enhance community relations and ensure justice is accessible to all, the District Police Officer (DPO) Asad Sarfraz Khan organized an open court at Jamia Masjid Anwaar Gulbarg Road in Model Town A, Bahawalpur. This initiative aligns with the vision of 'justice at your doorstep' set forth by the Inspector General of Police Punjab. The event saw a large turnout of citizens eager to voice their concerns and seek resolutions to their issues.
During the open court, DPO Asad Sarfraz Khan, accompanied by the Senior District Police Officer (SDPO) City Circle and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Othana Cantt, attentively listened to the grievances presented by the public. He took the time to address each issue in detail, ensuring that the concerned officers were informed promptly. Orders for action and return reports were issued on the spot, demonstrating a commitment to swift justice.
Speaking to the attendees, DPO Khan emphasized the importance of organizing open courts at police stations as a top priority. He stated, "Listening to the problems of the citizens allows us to take timely action right at their doorstep." This approach aims to resolve issues at the police station level while maintaining merit as the foremost principle. The DPO reiterated that the primary goal of these open courts is to address the public's problems on a priority basis and to bridge the gap between the police and the community.
Furthermore, DPO Khan instructed the SHOs to adopt a more positive attitude towards the public, highlighting that the service of the people and the protection of their lives and property must be ensured at all costs. Citizens expressed their satisfaction with the DPO's direct involvement, noting that it was reassuring to see the District Police Officer personally addressing their concerns and issuing immediate orders for resolution.
In a related initiative, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Zaheer Anwar Jappa, following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, also held an open court at Jama Masjid 13 BC. This event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Amir Taimur, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur Sadar Ahmed Sher Gondal, and various officials from related departments. During this session, Deputy Commissioner Jappa issued orders to resolve complaints received, emphasizing that revenue-related issues should be addressed under an open-door policy. He warned that any negligence in solving public problems would result in strict action.
The organization of open courts by both the DPO and the Deputy Commissioner reflects a growing commitment to transparency and accountability in governance. These initiatives not only empower citizens to voice their concerns but also foster a sense of trust between the community and law enforcement agencies. As these open courts continue to take place, they serve as a reminder that justice should not be a distant concept but rather a reality that is accessible to every citizen, right in their neighborhood.
