PESHAWAR: In a significant move aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and economic development, Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud has formed a committee to tackle the challenges facing the construction of the 46-kilometer Peshawar-Torkham Expressway. This project is a crucial part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Corridor, which is designed to improve infrastructure and promote trade in the region.

The newly established committee is composed of national lawmakers, key officials, and representatives from the World Bank. This diverse group is tasked with accelerating progress on the expressway project, which is expected to play a vital role in boosting the local economy. During a recent meeting chaired by Commissioner Mahsud, the committee members included MNAs Shandana Gulzar, Arbab Amir Ayub, and Asif Khan, along with the project director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Corridor, the Assistant Chief of the Planning and Development Department, the Assistant Commissioner of Matani, and a representative from the World Bank.

Commissioner Mahsud emphasized the importance of the expressway, stating that its completion would not only create job opportunities for the residents of Peshawar but also significantly improve traffic flow in the area. He highlighted that achieving consensus among stakeholders is essential for the successful execution of the project. To this end, he directed the committee members to present actionable recommendations within two weeks.
