KARACHI: The Italian Navy Carrier Strike Group, which includes the Aircraft Carrier ITS CAVOUR and the Frigate ITS ALPINO, has made a significant visit to Karachi. This three-day visit is not just a friendly gesture; it is followed by a bilateral exercise aimed at strengthening ties between Italy and Pakistan. Such visits are crucial as they foster cooperation and understanding between navies, especially in a region where maritime security is of utmost importance.

Upon their arrival in Karachi, the Italian Navy ships received a warm welcome from senior officials of the Pakistan Navy and the Ambassador of Italy, Marilina ARMELLIN. This reception highlights the importance of international naval relations and the mutual respect shared between the two nations. Following the arrival, an important meeting took place between the Italian delegation, led by Ambassador ARMELLIN and Rear Admiral Stefano BARBIERI, Capability Director of the Italian Defence General Staff, and Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, Commander of the Pakistan Fleet. During this meeting, they discussed various matters of mutual interest, including interoperability and future collaboration to enhance regional maritime security and defense cooperation.

Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, the Commander of Karachi, also took the opportunity to visit the ITS CAVOUR. He was briefed on the capabilities of the Aircraft Carrier by its Commanding Officer, Captain Francesco FAGNANI. This kind of exchange is vital as it allows both navies to learn from each other and improve their operational readiness.

In addition to the meetings, a Defence Industries Exhibition was held onboard the ITS ALPINO, showcasing the capabilities of Italian defense industries. This exhibition provided an excellent platform for sharing knowledge and technology, which can be beneficial for both countries.
