The Local Government Employees Association in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa urges the restoration of local body taxes to address financial difficulties faced by municipal administrations.

The Local Government Employees Association (LGEA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has urged the provincial government to restore certain local body taxes, such as the one percent property tax and license fee. The leaders of LGEA, including Shaukat Ali Anjum, Shaukat Kayani, Haji Anwar Kamal Marwat, Haji Niaz Ali Khan, Sulaiman Hoti, Mehboob Allala, and Raheel Ahmed, have raised concerns about the challenges faced by Tehsil Municipal Administrations due to the government's actions.

They have pointed out that the paralysis of Tehsil Municipal Administrations has made it difficult for municipal bodies to fulfill their salary and pension obligations to employees and pensioners. This financial strain is attributed to a decrease in revenue sources and the additional burden of district council employees and assistant directors of local government on tehsil municipal administrations.

The call by the LGEA highlights the pressing need to address the financial difficulties faced by local government bodies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Reinstating local body taxes could potentially alleviate some of the financial burdens and help ensure the smooth functioning of municipal administrations, ultimately benefiting both employees and the communities they serve.
