PHA organizes a ballot for Christian staff to visit St. Joseph Church, promoting inclusivity and celebrating diversity in Lahore.
In a commendable initiative to promote inclusivity and celebrate diversity, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) recently organized a ballot for its Christian staff members. This event, held in Lahore, aimed to provide an opportunity for these employees to visit a significant religious site, St. Joseph Catholic Church, located in Maryamabad, Sheikhupura. The PHA's commitment to recognizing the contributions of its minority employees is evident in this thoughtful gesture.
On Thursday, a spokesperson for the PHA announced that out of 158 applicants, 50 individuals were selected through a manual balloting process. Most of those chosen are gardeners and junior staff members, reflecting the department's dedication to including all levels of employees in such meaningful experiences. The PHA will sponsor the round-trip to Maryamabad, ensuring that the selected staff members can partake in the religious festivities that will last for three days.
During a special gathering at the PHA headquarters, Director General Muhammad Tahir Wattoo extended his warm wishes to the Christian staff members. He acknowledged the valuable contributions made by minority employees, emphasizing the importance of diversity and unity in the workplace. “Our strength lies in the richness of our diversity, and your contributions have been a testament to that,” he stated, highlighting the department's commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
Moreover, Mr. Wattoo expressed his best wishes to those celebrating their religious festivities, reinforcing the PHA's dedication to creating a harmonious workplace for all employees. This initiative is not just about a day out; it symbolizes the PHA's recognition of the cultural and religious diversity that enriches the organization.
It is worth noting that during the Easter celebrations in April, the PHA had previously decorated several churches with colorful flowers and decorative lights, further showcasing their commitment to supporting and celebrating the traditions of their Christian staff. Such actions not only enhance the workplace atmosphere but also promote a sense of belonging among employees.
The PHA's ballot for its Christian staff members is a significant step towards fostering an inclusive work environment. By recognizing and celebrating the diverse backgrounds of its employees, the PHA sets a positive example for other organizations. It is essential for workplaces to embrace diversity, as it not only enriches the organizational culture but also strengthens the bonds among employees, creating a more cohesive and productive workforce.
