PIA announces plans to facilitate 35,000 Haj pilgrims in 2025, operating special flights from six cities and introducing the Road to Makkah facility.

In a significant development for aspiring Haj pilgrims, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced its plans to facilitate the transportation of 35,000 pilgrims to the holy land in 2025. This initiative comes under a government scheme aimed at making the pilgrimage more accessible for Pakistani citizens. The agreement between PIA and the Ministry of Religious Affairs marks a crucial step in ensuring that the spiritual journey of Haj is smooth and efficient for all participants.

The agreement was officially signed by PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Aamir Hayat and Dr. Syed Ata-ur-Rehman, the additional secretary of religious affairs. This partnership will see PIA operating special flights from six major cities across Pakistan: Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Multan, and Sukkur. This extensive reach is designed to accommodate pilgrims from various regions, making it easier for them to embark on their sacred journey.

As part of the preparations for the upcoming Haj season, the federal cabinet has recently approved the Haj Policy for 2025. The cost for the pilgrimage has been set between Rs1,075,000 and Rs1,175,000, which includes a sacrifice amount of Rs55,000 that will be added to the overall expenses. It is important to note that children under the age of 12 will not be permitted to travel for Haj, ensuring that the focus remains on adult pilgrims who are undertaking this significant religious obligation.

For the convenience of travelers, the “Road to Makkah” facility will be available at both Islamabad and Karachi airports. This service aims to streamline the travel process, allowing pilgrims to complete necessary procedures before their departure. Additionally, Haj group organizers will be required to sign service provider agreements with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, ensuring that they adhere to strict standards of service. These organizers will be closely monitored to guarantee that pilgrims receive the best possible support during their journey.

As the date for the pilgrimage approaches, it is essential for prospective pilgrims to stay informed about the requirements and preparations necessary for a successful Haj experience. This initiative by PIA not only reflects the airline's commitment to serving the needs of its passengers but also highlights the government's efforts to facilitate religious obligations for its citizens. With proper planning and adherence to guidelines, the journey to the holy land can be a fulfilling and spiritually enriching experience for all pilgrims.
