Sukkur Barrage Restoration Progresses Swiftly Under Minister Shoro's Supervision

The Sukkur Barrage, a vital infrastructure in Sindh, is undergoing a significant overhaul to replace damaged gates and enhance water distribution efficiency. Sindh Irrigation Minister, Jam Khan Shoro, has announced that the restoration work is progressing swiftly, with the goal of making the barrage fully operational within the next 8 days. This development is crucial as the Sukkur Barrage irrigates 7.5 million acres of land in the region.

The ongoing efforts include the preparation of Gate No 44 and the completion of 50% of the work on the Coffer Dam for installing Gate No 47. Emergency measures were initiated following the collapse of two gates, prompting the urgent need for repairs. The project, supported by the World Bank, involves the replacement of gates based on a comprehensive study conducted in 2018.
