Special Secretary Tayyab Fareed inspects Nullah Lai cleanliness and praises WASA Rawalpindi for their comprehensive Monsoon preparations. MD WASA emphasizes pre-Monsoon cleaning and emergency protocols to ensure community well-being during the upcoming Monsoon season in Rawalpindi.

In a recent inspection led by Special Secretary Housing and Urban Development Punjab, Tayyab Fareed, the cleanliness work of Nullah Lai in Gawalmandi area was thoroughly assessed. The visit also included a review of the Monsoon preparations undertaken by Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi. With the Meteorological Department's forecast in mind, the Secretary stressed the importance of vigilance and lauded WASA Rawalpindi for its comprehensive Monsoon readiness, which involved timely cleaning of drains and sewage lines.

Highlighting the significance of coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure citizen welfare, especially in areas prone to emergencies, the Secretary acknowledged the Punjab government's prompt funding that enabled WASA to successfully complete the cleanliness project in Rawalpindi. This initiative aims to preempt any potential issues during the upcoming heavy rainfall season.

MD WASA, Muhammad Saleem Ashraf, emphasized the completion of pre-Monsoon preparations, which included the cleaning of 11 city drains and the utilization of modern machinery for sewage line maintenance. To prevent waste dumping in Nullah Lai, Section-144 was enforced, and emergency protocols have been established for the Monsoon period, such as the cancellation of staff leaves and the setup of relief camps equipped with necessary resources.

With a focus on swift response to rainwater accumulation challenges, particularly in low-lying areas, WASA Rawalpindi's operational machinery and trained personnel are dedicated to ensuring a seamless Monsoon season for the residents. The agency's proactive stance involves continuous monitoring and support from various officials present during the inspection, all geared towards safeguarding the community's well-being.

As Rawalpindi gears up for the Monsoon season, the collaborative efforts of government bodies like WASA Rawalpindi and the Punjab government are instrumental in enhancing the city's resilience to heavy rains.
