A three-day curfew is imposed in Lower South Waziristan to ensure safety following recent clashes between security forces and militants.
PESHAWAR – In a significant move to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, a three-day curfew has been imposed in specific areas of Lower South Waziristan. This decision comes in response to the ongoing movement of security forces in the region, particularly in the localities of Sangha and Anzar China, located in the Shakai tehsil.
The Deputy Commissioner of Lower South Waziristan, Nasir Khan, has officially announced that the curfew will be enforced from 5:00 am to 6:00 pm for the next three days, starting tomorrow, December 1. During this period, there will be a complete ban on any outdoor movement. The authorities are urging the residents of Shakai tehsil to cooperate fully with the security forces to maintain peace and order.
This curfew comes on the heels of a recent violent clash earlier this month, where five militants were killed, and four Pakistani soldiers were martyred. The intense exchange of fire took place in the Karama area, where security forces confronted heavily armed militants. The Pakistani troops' effective response led to the elimination of five terrorists, who were referred to as Khawarij by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The fallen soldiers have been identified as Naib Subedar Taib Shah (38, District Tank), Lance Naik Gulab Zaman (30, District Karak), Lance Naik Muzammil Mehmood (30, District Karak), and Lance Naik Habibullah (28, District Orakzai). These brave individuals embraced martyrdom while valiantly defending their homeland, showcasing the ultimate sacrifice made by our armed forces in the line of duty.
As the curfew takes effect, it is crucial for the community to understand the importance of these measures. While it may cause temporary inconvenience, the primary goal is to ensure the safety of all residents. Cooperation with security forces is not just a civic duty; it is a collective effort to foster peace and stability in the region. In times of unrest, unity and understanding among the populace can significantly contribute to overcoming challenges and restoring normalcy.
