Multan's 3-day polio vaccination campaign begins on December 16, aiming to immunize over one million children against polio.
Polio is a highly infectious disease that primarily affects children under the age of five. It can lead to paralysis and even death, making vaccination crucial for prevention. In Pakistan, efforts to eradicate polio have been ongoing for many years, and the government is committed to ensuring that every child is vaccinated. In line with this commitment, a three-day national polio eradication campaign is set to begin in Multan on December 16, 2024.
This campaign aims to vaccinate over one million children in the district. The Deputy Commissioner of Multan, Wasim Hamid Sandhu, recently chaired a meeting to discuss the preparations for this important initiative. During the meeting, it was revealed that more than 4,000 mobile vaccination teams will be deployed throughout the area to ensure that every child receives the vaccine. This door-to-door approach is designed to reach families in their homes, making it easier for parents to have their children vaccinated.
In addition to the mobile teams, special vaccination camps will be established at key public locations, such as railway stations and bus stands. This strategy aims to reach transient populations, ensuring that children who may not be at home during the campaign still have access to the vaccine. The health officials are determined to leave no stone unturned in their quest to eradicate polio from the region.
It is essential for parents and guardians to understand the importance of this vaccination campaign. By participating, they are not only protecting their own children but also contributing to the broader effort to eliminate polio in Pakistan. Vaccination is a simple yet powerful tool in the fight against this disease, and every child vaccinated brings the country one step closer to a polio-free future.
As the campaign approaches, it is vital for communities to support these efforts. Parents should ensure that their children are available for vaccination and encourage others to do the same. Together, through awareness and action, we can help safeguard the health of our children and pave the way for a healthier tomorrow.
