KARACHI: The bond between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan has been described as a "shining example" of friendship that the world can admire. This statement was made by Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumeithi, the Consul General of the UAE, during an event held by the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) to celebrate the UAE's 53rd National Day. Al Rumeithi expressed pride in the strong ties shared between the two nations, emphasizing that the UAE is always ready to support the business community in Karachi.

During his address, Al Rumeithi highlighted the significance of the celebrations, which were marked as "Eid ul Ittihad," symbolizing unity among the Emirati states. He thanked the Karachi business community for their warm celebration of the UAE's National Day and acknowledged the efforts of various organizations, including the Sindh government and the Governor House, in making the event a success.

Al Rumeithi also pointed out the vital role that Pakistan has played in the UAE's development over the past 53 years. He specifically mentioned the contributions of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in the growth of Emirates Airlines, stating, "For us, Pakistan is like a mentor, guiding us prudently at every step." This sentiment reflects the deep respect and appreciation the UAE holds for Pakistan and its people.

In his remarks, Zubair Motiwala, Chairman of the Businessmen Group (BMG), noted that the UAE is home to approximately 2 million Pakistanis, who have made it their second home. He emphasized the importance of this expatriate community, particularly in terms of remittances, which amount to around $30 billion annually. This figure is nearly equal to Pakistan's total national exports, highlighting the significant economic impact of the Pakistani diaspora in the UAE.

Motiwala further stressed that Pakistan's export potential to the UAE is not being fully realized. He believes that with the right partnerships and collaborations, particularly in technology and agriculture, Pakistan can enhance its economic standing. He pointed out that food security is becoming a pressing global issue and that Pakistan has a crucial role to play in addressing this challenge through innovation in agriculture.

Vice Chairman BMG Anjum Nisar echoed these sentiments, noting that the UAE is Pakistan's third-largest trading partner. He highlighted the warm welcome and respect that the Pakistani business community receives in the UAE, which reflects the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations.

President KCCI Jawed Bilwani also extended his congratulations to the UAE government on its National Day, praising the UAE's remarkable achievements and its influential role on the global stage. He reiterated the strong socio-economic ties that bind Pakistan and the UAE, emphasizing that their relationship is built on mutual respect and shared values.

The celebration of the UAE's National Day in Karachi not only highlights the strong friendship between the two nations but also serves as a reminder of the potential that lies in their collaboration. As both countries continue to work together, there is hope for a future filled with opportunities that can benefit their economies and strengthen their bond even further. The UAE-Pakistan relationship stands as a testament to the power of unity and cooperation in achieving shared goals.
