Allama Tahir Ashrafi's Stance on Extremism and Unity

Allama Tahir Ashrafi, the head of the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), has voiced his firm support for Operation Azm-i-Istehkam, highlighting the crucial need to eliminate extremism and terrorism from Pakistan. He has urged for unity and consensus in the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) to effectively tackle terrorism. During a recent press conference, Ashrafi criticized the US House of Representatives for interfering in Pakistan's internal affairs by calling for an investigation into the February 8 elections. He emphasized that no foreign nation, including the United States, has the authority to interfere in Pakistan's sovereignty. Ashrafi also raised concerns about the lack of attention given to the suffering of Palestinians by officials in Washington.

In addition, Ashrafi rebuked the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) for opposing a resolution passed by the National Assembly against the US House of Representatives. He questioned the actions of PTI members who tore the document on the assembly floor, pointing out their departure from the initial stance of "absolutely not" to engaging lobbyists in the US.

Addressing the issue of extremism, Ashrafi underscored that the Pakistani constitution guarantees equal rights to all minorities, allowing them to freely practice their religious beliefs and observe their sacred occasions. He strongly condemned any form of violence or discrimination against minorities, stating that such acts are not only morally wrong but also a violation of the constitution. Ashrafi emphasized that imposing ideologies through coercion and promoting hatred contradicts Islamic teachings.
