Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif takes decisive actions to address flour pricing inaccuracies, combat corruption, protect farmers, and stabilize the market.

Recently, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif addressed concerns regarding inaccurate data on flour prices provided by the food department. In a special meeting, she stressed the importance of setting prices based on Pakistan Standards & Quality Control categories to reflect actual market rates. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed authorities to submit daily reports on flour prices and authorized the transportation of flour with proper documentation.

Furthermore, she called for a revamp of the food department and urged for legal action against corrupt individuals. Maryam Nawaz also mandated the implementation of a digital monitoring system for department personnel to enhance efficiency. She warned that governance could be compromised if departments failed to fulfill their responsibilities.

Highlighting the exploitation of farmers by mafias, the chief minister pledged to combat such practices. Reports revealed that Punjab holds 2.2 million metric tonnes of official wheat reserves and a total of 6 million metric tonnes of wheat in the province. Measures like geo-tagging wheat reserves are being enforced to prevent hoarding.

Key figures present at the meeting included Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information & Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, and Provincial Ministers Bilal Yasin and Syed Ashiq Hussain. Chief Secretary, Secretaries, and other relevant officers were also in attendance.
