Barrister Saif condemns proposed constitutional amendments, calling them an attack on the Supreme Court and vows PTI's support for judicial independence.
PESHAWAR - In recent developments, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Dr. Saif has voiced strong opposition to the proposed constitutional amendments, likening them to an outright attack on the Supreme Court of Pakistan. This statement comes amid growing concerns regarding the integrity of the country's legal framework and the role of the judiciary in maintaining democratic principles.
Barrister Saif did not hold back in his criticism of what he termed the “fake government,” which he accused of making unsuccessful attempts to alter the constitution. He described these amendments as an act of treachery against the constitution itself, asserting that they represent a direct assault on the Supreme Court. According to him, the so-called coalition government is acting in a manner that undermines the very foundation of Pakistan's legal system.
In his remarks, Barrister Saif highlighted the coalition government's alleged motivations, suggesting that their animosity towards former Prime Minister Imran Khan has led them to disregard constitutional norms. He claimed that this group is moving in unison to push through these amendments, which he believes are designed to weaken the judiciary and its independence.
Furthermore, Barrister Saif emphasized that the government, which he described as having a “fake mandate,” is poised to launch another attack on the Supreme Court through these proposed changes. He reassured the public that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party stands firmly with the judiciary and will resist any efforts aimed at restricting judicial freedom.
In addition to his comments on the constitutional amendments, Barrister Saif also criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan. He accused the commission of failing to take necessary actions to alleviate the current political turmoil in the country, suggesting that its inaction has contributed to the ongoing crisis.
As the political landscape in Pakistan continues to evolve, the implications of these proposed constitutional amendments remain a topic of significant concern. The judiciary's role in safeguarding democracy is crucial, and any attempts to undermine it could have far-reaching consequences for the rule of law in the country. It is essential for citizens to stay informed and engaged in these discussions, as the future of Pakistan's democracy may very well depend on the actions taken by both the government and the judiciary in the coming days.
