An accountability court summons key witnesses in the corruption case involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. Media access improved for better coverage, emphasizing transparency in the legal proceedings.

An accountability court has summoned four additional prosecution witnesses, including former principal secretary to the PM Azam Khan and former PTI leader Pervez Khattak, in the ongoing £190m corruption case involving former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi. The hearing occurred at Islamabad Accountability Court-I, overseen by Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where Imran and Bushra are currently detained. Imran and Bushra were present in court as their legal representatives completed the cross-examination of three additional prosecution witnesses. At the request of the NAB prosecutor, the court has called for four key witnesses to testify in the next hearing.

The NAB legal team, headed by Amjad Pervez and Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, was present during the proceedings. Cross-examinations of 30 witnesses have been finalized, with 19 witnesses yet to testify. Notably, during the hearing, Imran Khan urged the judge to allow media personnel to occupy the front part of the courtroom for better coverage. In response, the judge directed the jail staff to accommodate the media representatives near the lawyers' area, granting them a closer view of the proceedings. This arrangement marks a departure from previous hearings where the media was seated at the rear of the courtroom within the jail premises.

The latest developments in the corruption case against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi highlight the continued legal scrutiny surrounding the high-profile case. With key witnesses being summoned and media access being improved, the transparency of the proceedings is being emphasized. As the case progresses, further insights into the alleged corruption scandal are expected to emerge, shedding light on the intricacies of the legal process and the accountability measures being undertaken.
