The Supreme Court denies live broadcast request for the NAB amendment case hearing involving Imran Khan's challenges and implications on anti-corruption efforts in Pakistan.

The Supreme Court (SC) has denied the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's request for the live broadcast of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendment case hearing. The current proceedings, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and a five-judge bench, involve the intra-court appeal (ICA) of the federation and petitions from individuals affected by the SC's 2023 verdict that overturned certain NAB amendments.

During a recent hearing, Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed challenges in accessing necessary materials while in solitary confinement. Chief Justice Isa assured Khan that all relevant materials would be provided. In a previous hearing, Khan appeared via video link but was unable to speak as a petitioner before the adjournment.

In 2022, Imran Khan announced his intention to challenge the amendments to the National Accountability Bill, citing concerns that the changes would weaken the anti-corruption body's ability to prosecute corrupt politicians. He criticized the government for passing the amendments and called for the imprisonment of current leaders for their alleged corrupt actions.

The ongoing NAB amendment case hearing continues to draw attention as key figures like Prime Minister Imran Khan navigate legal challenges. The Supreme Court's decision to deny the live broadcast request underscores the significance of the case's implications on anti-corruption efforts in Pakistan.
