Imran Khan raises concerns over attack on PTI spokesperson

Imran Khan, the imprisoned founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has raised concerns over the recent attack on party spokesperson Raoof Hasan. Khan, who is currently in detention, stated that he is aware of the individuals responsible for the assault on Hasan and cautioned that they are growing impatient and may resort to street protests. He highlighted the prevalence of violence within the existing system.

The incident occurred when Raoof Hasan, the PTI Information Secretary, was targeted by a group of transgenders outside a private TV channel's office in Islamabad. Despite suffering facial injuries, Hasan received medical treatment at a hospital and was later discharged. The attackers managed to flee the scene without being apprehended.

Khan acknowledged the fragile state of Pakistan's economy as a factor influencing the decision to avoid staging protests. However, he emphasized that the government would be held responsible for any harm caused during potential demonstrations. He referenced an upcoming court appearance related to amendments in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law and criticized the restrictions imposed on PTI's activities.

In a challenge to the current leadership, Khan called for transparency in legal proceedings and urged prominent political figures such as Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari to bring back their assets from overseas. He expressed his willingness to face any charges, including treason, and refuted speculations of a compromise with Nawaz Sharif.

Khan also expressed contentment at the release of PTI President Pervaiz Elahi and condemned interference by the United States in Pakistan's governmental affairs.
