On Eid ul Fitr, PTI activists detained outside Adiala jail as Imran Khan's legal battles continue. Speculations of his release before Eid proven false, serving 31-year sentence.

On the first day of Eid ul Fitr, five Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists were briefly taken into custody by the police for protesting and filming videos outside the main gate of Adiala jail in Rawalpindi. The law enforcement officials stated that the activists were found shooting videos of gate number 5, which was restricted for unauthorized individuals. Consequently, they were arrested and later released after a few hours at the Adiala jail police station.

Security measures around the jail were heightened, with speculations circulating that PTI founder Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated there since last year, might be released before Eid. However, these rumors did not materialize. Imran Khan's spouse, Bushra Bibi, had a one-hour meeting with him at the jail before being escorted back to Bani Gala, where she is currently under house arrest.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were convicted of graft charges, leading to their imprisonment. Imran, who was transferred to Adiala jail from Attock jail in September 2023, is serving a cumulative sentence of 31 years in various cases. Despite his incarceration, he remains in contact with his legal team, party members, and family.

The incident involving the detention of PTI activists outside Adiala jail sheds light on the ongoing legal battles faced by Imran Khan and his associates. The heightened security and the failed expectations of his release before Eid underscore the complexities of the situation. As Imran continues to serve his sentence, the political landscape in Pakistan remains dynamic and uncertain.
