Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi denies knowledge of rumored deal with Imran Khan and emphasizes the importance of thorough discussions in decision-making. Efforts are underway to establish a financially autonomous passport authority for improved efficiency.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated on Monday that he was unaware of any rumored deal between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and the Establishment. Speaking at the inauguration of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) Mobile Facilitation and Education Services, Naqvi emphasized that he had no information regarding the alleged agreement. When questioned about reports suggesting a deal between Khan and the Establishment, Naqvi advised directing inquiries to those involved in the speculation.

Regarding the removal of names from the exit control list (ECL), Naqvi explained that the Cabinet Committee on ECL made decisions after thorough discussions. He described the process as routine and emphasized that names should only be placed on the ECL if necessary. Notably, the federal government reportedly removed the names of several prominent PTI leaders from the ECL, including former principal secretary Azam Khan, Murad Saeed, Ali Amin Gandapur, and others.

Naqvi also highlighted the government's efforts to enhance the financial independence of the passport authority. He mentioned that a bill would be presented to establish a financially autonomous passport authority, addressing delays in passport material procurement caused by the current lack of financial independence within the passport directorate.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's remarks shed light on the government's stance regarding alleged deals and administrative decisions. The ongoing efforts to streamline processes within the passport authority reflect a commitment to improving efficiency and service delivery in governmental functions.
