Justice Mansoor Ali Shah's absence disrupts Supreme Court proceedings, leading to case de-listing and new bench formation.

In a significant development within the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah was unable to attend court proceedings today, leading to the de-listing of several cases that were scheduled for hearing. This situation arose due to Justice Mansoor's leave of absence, which was reportedly necessitated by the illness of a close relative.

The Supreme Court bench, which included Justice Ayesha A. Malik and Justice Aqeel Abbasi, was prepared to hear the cases. However, with Justice Mansoor's absence, the cases could not proceed as planned. Consequently, the two-member bench, consisting of Justice Ayesha Malik and Justice Aqeel Abbasi, was compelled to adjourn after a brief session in Courtroom 6.

Furthermore, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah's absence was also felt during a crucial meeting of the Practice and Procedure Act Committee held yesterday. His non-attendance prompted Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa to establish a new bench for interpreting Article 63-A of the Constitution, replacing Justice Muneeb Akhtar with Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan in the five-member panel.

This incident highlights the challenges faced by the judiciary when key members are unavailable. The absence of a senior judge not only affects the immediate cases at hand but also has broader implications for the judicial process and the timely administration of justice. As the legal community and the public await further developments, it is essential to recognize the importance of each member's role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the court system.
