KP Assembly to analyze Pashtoon Jirga's 22 points, addressing local issues and forming a committee for Kurram district challenges.
PESHAWAR: In a significant development for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced on Monday that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s parliamentary committee will thoroughly analyze the 22 points outlined in the communique from the Pashtoon Jirga. This communique represents the collective voice of the Pashtoon community, addressing various issues and concerns that affect their lives and livelihoods.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the recommendations made by the committee will be presented in the assembly through a formal resolution. He stated, "The workable points highlighted in the resolution related to the province will be implemented here, while issues related to the federation will be forwarded to the federal government for consideration." This approach indicates a commitment to addressing local issues while also recognizing the need for federal intervention on broader matters.
During a media interaction following a meeting with opposition leaders, Gandapur reiterated the importance of peaceful protests as a fundamental democratic right. He expressed a desire to meet with the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), underscoring the need for dialogue and collaboration among political factions.
Opposition leader Dr. Ebad Khan confirmed that the communique from the Pashtoon Jirga was discussed with the Chief Minister and noted that these points would also be reviewed in the Parliamentary Committee. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that the voices of the Pashtoon community are heard and considered in the legislative process.
In a related matter, the Chief Minister directed the establishment of a Parliamentary Committee to address the challenging situation in the Kurram tribal district. He clarified that the difficulties faced in Kurram stem from land disputes between tribes rather than sectarian issues. "All in Kurram wanted peace and a solution to the dispute," he stated, highlighting the community's desire for harmony and resolution.
The Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly hinted at forming a parliamentary committee that would include members from both the government and opposition parties. This initiative reflects a bipartisan approach to resolving conflicts and fostering peace in the region.
The actions taken by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government signal a proactive stance towards addressing the concerns of the Pashtoon community and the issues in Kurram. By engaging in dialogue and forming committees, the government aims to create a more inclusive and peaceful environment. It is essential for all stakeholders to work together to ensure that the voices of the people are not only heard but also acted upon, paving the way for a brighter future for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
